Awake In Olaiya
(Olaiya Book 1)
Nat doesn’t know who she is or why she’s in Olaiya. This community in Territorial California seems pleasant enough, but the terrifying dreams she has every night tell a different story. Nat can’t remember anything about her life before a few days ago, although that’s more than other unit brothers seem to recall. She’s also figuring out that she has to be careful what she says—careless words can end with people going missing.
Nat longs to leave this orderly but dangerous place. Is escape even possible? She’s becoming more aware, yet most of her time is wasted pretending to be clueless and trying to avoid the guards’ attention. The more alive she feels, the harder it is to blend in.
Hoping to find answers about the community and her own lost memories, Nat joins a secret group called the Rebs. Still, Nat has difficulty knowing who in Building 8 is safe, and even the Rebs she trusts the most seem unwilling to tell her anything about her past. The cruel Olaiya Masters are trying to figure out who’s making noise at night and causing disruptions during the day, searching for the answer to one question. It’s the same question Nat is asking. Who is awake in Olaiya?

Nat’s inability to remember who she is begins to mix with her uncertainty about what’s happening in Olaiya, and she finds herself asking the question, “Who would I discover if I was allowed to be myself?”

Titch is carefree, and might enjoy his life more than anyone else in Building 8. But he asks weird questions, and his eyes seem strangely bright. Does he know something Nat doesn’t?

Thena is the most terrifying of the Olaiya Masters. Why is she here investigating night noises? Nat’s screams in the middle of the night aren’t important enough to bring a Master to this building to investigate what’s going on, are they?

Jeb doesn’t fit in. He doesn’t wear the standard uniform, seems to do whatever he wants, and doesn’t even belong to a unit. All of that can only mean one thing, he has a very high clearance. But if he’s so important, why does he always seem angry?

Treya is Unit Cera's leader. She knows how to keep her calm, and gets everyone to work and meals on time, but does she know more than she's letting on?

Crit is a brilliant doctor who has been demoted to the little medic station in Building 8. Why he got demoted isn't generally known... and everyone else who were involved have been killed.

Swatch walks fast and keeps busy. She has no unit, and seems to tell everyone in Building 8 what to do. While Swatch is no nonsense, she's also kind. Nat wonders if maybe Swatch is watching out for Unit Cera, but she can't figure out why.

Jame has a high medical clearance, and it's possible that a passion for health and healing is what brought him to Olaiya. Little did he know that this little community isn't what it seems like from the outside.
